hosted by Food Network Star Gale Gand, and live entertainment

Celebrate the Arts in Evanston

Who needs Chicago when it comes to culture, especially now with the
construction on the Edens? Check out something new or live
dangerously by pushing the envelope this week. Get yourself to
Evanston ...its Arts Week and begins with a Friday night
celebration in downtown Evanston tomorrow. You'll find jazz and
other performances by the Northwestern University Dolphin Show,
Variations Dance Group, and the ETHS Marching Band at the northwest
corner of Sherman Avenue and Davis Street (Sherman Plaza).

That's just the start so jot this other things to do down:

-New Sherman Plaza artwork, a 15-foot metal sculpture, will be
dedicated
-A Dance Showcase featuring the Evanston Dance Ensemble,
Urban Beat Dance, Equilibrium Dance Company, Captivate Dance
Company and Elements Contemporary Ballet will be open to the public
at 3 p.m. on October 14 at the Levy Center
-Try woodcarving, painting, or even singing with a choir at an
open studio at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center and the Evanston Arts
Center

Deal On A Bike

If you're looking to score a decent bike, or maybe one you can tear
down for spare parts, check out Evanston's bike auction, this
Saturday, October 6.

A preview of the 130 or so bikes available will commence at 9 a.m.,
with the auction starting at 10 a.m. Any proceeds from the event go
to Evanston's police pension fund.

The auction will be at the northwest corner of the police
department, located at 1454 Elmwood. Cash or checks only.
