Insider Tip of the Week: See You At The Beach!
Free Parking...

Isn't summer on the North Shore the best?
OK, everyone has their season, but around here, summer really is something
to savor.

We're not sweltering (yet!) in that humid, subtropical gunk, and there's plenty
of time to catch a few rays.

So here's our Insider Secret for this week:
Check out Glencoe Beach.

In chatting it up with a Glencoe Park District staffer, we discovered one of
the best kept secrets around - get this... Parking for the beach-- along
the beach front park is...gasp...FREE!

We took a peek at the beach below the park's overlook and spotted
pristine white sand, a lots-to-do playground, boardwalk with tented
tables for snacks and eats, and some of the bluest, cleanest water on
the North Shore.

If you're sure bringing the beach with you is not an option... there are some OK
public showers too for a decent rinse off.

If you're a nonresident and don't have a parking pass, take advantage of the
great parking. To make the experience super easy there's even a golf cart that
scoots you up and and down the rather steep journey from the street level to
the beach. It's a great mini-adventure equipped with a few hairpin turns and
conversational driver super willing to help with the gear.

And, there's more...beach passes in Glencoe are now half off!

If you're a nonresident looking for a few fun-filled days at the beach is probably
worth paying the day rate ($10 ea.) but otherwise I recommend the family
season's pass for $85  go to www.glencoeparkdistrict.com for more information.

Delicious Summer Recipe
Try this outrageously delicious and simple, idiot-proof side
dish, dessert, snack and/or picnic treat.  I call it Addiction
Watermelon Salad.
Why? Because you can't stop eating it.

Simply cut fresh watermelon into easy-to-fork squares
Squeeze fresh lemon juice
Add fresh chopped mint
Mix gently with your (Please! Wash them!) clean hands.

Taking it to a "big kids" party?
Try spiking the salad with a few shots of Grey Goose or any vodka for those
more adult summer soirees.
Next step...when everyone's done, sneak back into the kitchen and slurp
down the juice from the bowl. Just don't let anyone catch you

Total bonus...It's low calorie, no fat, no added sugar and 100% natural.
