Show Off Those Spelling Skillz!




Tired of video everything? How about some good clean – even
brain cell worthy fun!
Score! is hosting a spelling bee at the Recreation Center of
Highland Park.
All kids ages Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to join
in – and nine winners will receive college savings bonds.
The registration deadline for the March 29th event is this weekend,

Get A Move On and Head To The Grove In Glenview



Not sure what “The Grove” is… its time to find out.
This week to check it out!
ost schools are out, so you can avoid the crowds and school
buses and really explore the park. At The Grove, you’ll find:

The Kennicott House, a Gothic revival built in 1856 and brilliantly
restored to its original appearance. It’s open on Sundays from
1 - 4 p.m.

The Redfield Estate, a 1929 Tudor that is an architectural gem
and available for family events such as weddings.

The Interpretive Center, a nature-focused facility that introduces
children and adults to the plants and animals that make up our
local environment. This month, staff are presenting programs on
snakes.

The Log Cabin, Schoolhouse and Native American Village
all work together to provide North Shore residents with an opportunity
to take a step back in time and learn about the daily lifestyles of
our ancestors.

Pick up the pace with weekly hikes to get your heart pumping
in a friendly group setting. Meet at North Bay Parking area

Also at Independence Grove is the “Best Dog Park” and Dog
Exercise Area featuring 30 acres, wooded areas and a huge
pond for swimming and other doggie games.

A permit is required to access this Dog Exercise Area. Daily
permits can be purchased at a self-pay station located in the
parking lot at each Dog Exercise Area.

Please note that dogs are not allowed on the trails at Independence
Grove, so when entering the Des Plaines River Trail from the
Dog Exercise Area you must leash your dog and stay on the trail
at all times.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to sunset, daily. Opens at 11 a.m. on the
first and third Thursdays of each month (shortened hours for
maintenance).
