For popsicles – Try to rinse the clothing in cold water as soon as possible, then when you can, soak it for at least 30 minutes in cold water. If that doesn’t do the trick, break out the ammonia, and dab the spot with a Q-Tip. follow up with a trip through the washing machine.

For watermelons – This juice is tougher than it looks – boil some distilled water and pour it through the stain. Let it soak if necessary. And if you can wash it in a hot cycle, go for it.

This weekend really is all about Independence Day, right? Check out our rundown for all the details on festivities and fireworks schedules! We’ll highlight a couple that begin tonight:

In Deerfield, Family Days kicks off TODAY with live entertainment, food and fun...and fireworks TONIGHT. You can catch the action this year at Brickyards Park, with ample parking at the Corporate 500 Center (151 Pfingsten Rd.), Patty Turner Senior Center and Commuter Parking Lot (Elm St.)

The Great Lakes Naval Station is opening its gates for the first time since 2001 on Friday for an Independence Day celebration – there’ll be tons of way cool activities for families, such as sports challenges, crafts, a carnival, live music, comedy, a military aircraft flyover, fireworks and a concert by Night Ranger!

Master Puppeteer Ralph Kipniss and friends use these gorgeous works of art to weave their tale on a 26-foot stage. Better yet? It’s free!

So many birthdays, so little time! Here’s one to celebrate on Monday – famed artist March Chagall. This is a “121st birthday” tribute to the man behind the art, which is featured in a traveling exhibit at Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview. Come enjoy art activities, free pretzel twisting, birthday cake and the unveiling of a special art piece, “Glenview Windows.”
