1948 marked the birth of the Jewish state and the exodus of 500,000 Palestinians from Israel. Safiyeh and Ishmail fled during the fighting and were forced to leave their infant son behind in his crib. Holocaust survivors Jakob and Sarah arrive in Haifa where they are given a new last name, the abandoned home and the baby to raise as their own. Now 20 years later, the boy’s birth parents return, hoping to recover what they once lost. Inspired by the 1968 Palestinian novella.

Dressing for Activity in the Cold Weather
Whether you're heading out to shovel snow or winterizing your walking routine, layering is the key to keeping comfortable in bitter temperatures:
Next to the skin: Your base layer should wick sweat away from your body to keep your skin dry. Cotton should not be used - save your t-shirts for other purposes. Good long underwear pieces are appropriate made from fabrics such as Thermion, polypropylene, Thermax, Thinsulate, and silk.
Insulating layer: This layer will keep you warm and can be shed once you warm.
Outer layer: To protect you from the elements, a windproof and water resistant jacket. It should be worn loosely.
Pants: If the weather is frigid, long underwear bottoms or tights underneath another pair of pants will keep you warm. Cotton and denim should be avoided. Running pants or running tights made of synthetics that wick moisture will keep you more comfortable in rain and snow.

Reeltime marks the 15th anniversary of the landmark documentary "Hoop Dreams" (by Steve James, Kartemquin Films) with a special screening and discussion. "Hoop Dreams" (1994, 172 min.) follows William Gates and Arthur Agee, two talented young basketball players from Chicago's inner city, who dream of starring in the NBA. Speakers include Jordan Perrin, ETHS student athlete, and Dudley Brown, Fellowship of African American Men.
