Can You Send A Hug?

Sure can... If it’s delivered on a Bear – or Armadillo!

Bruce Benton will tell you the most amazing stories about how his bears and other insanely, irresistible soft critters have made a difference in someone’s life.

Clearly, this is what matters most to Bruce -- a self described “serial entrepreneur”. I had to ask... how did you, a once venture capitalist, and home fix-it manly man end up spending most of your day referring to Teddy bears by name and other stuffed animals like extended family members? He told me, “the business just fit my criteria” and today he smiles and surrounds himself with plush toys and gifts that reach out and hug someone with custom messages.

I hope that you are feeling a tug on your heart strings -- big time. Isn’t it true...life’s too short?

Bruce’s bears and friends have sent hugs to soldiers in Iraq; serve as the emotional safety and transitional objects to children coping with trauma for local police and fire departments, get hand delivered by Rabbi’s in hospitals while visiting the sick and comfort homesick college and campers when family is far away.

As Bruce explained – his business is about everyday occasions and being there for people when there’s something important regardless of what it is. To be blunt, sending care and comfort need not wait for a peak season.

One last thing, while I conducted this entire interview with Bruce I was under the spell of cuteness. I was completely incapable of letting go of the primo softness and squishability of a big white bear I was told is the only one created by Gund that looks at you when you hug him. I felt a little self conscious hugging bears in public but periodically while “at work” I looked lovingly back at him too.

Thanks Bruce for sharing your friends and letting me score some extra, much needed hugs!
