American Cancer Society Relay for Life

American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Highland Park / Highwood / Deerfield Kicks-off June 5

Deerfield, Ill. – May 22, 2007 – Friends, neighbors and cancer survivors are coming together for an energizing celebration to kick off the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Highland Park / Highwood / Deerfield and unveil highlights planned for this year’s event. Anyone who wishes to form a team, volunteer to help, or would just like more information about the event is encouraged to attend.

The kick-off celebration will be held on June 5 at 6:00 p.m. at Nick’s Fishmarket Grill, located at 483 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield. Event plans and fundraising ideas for the American Cancer Society’s 3rd Annual Relay For Life of Highland Park / Highwood / Deerfield will be discussed. Volunteers are being recruited now to help with the planning and execution of this year’s event. Refreshments will be served compliments of Nick’s Fishmarket Grill.

Relay For Life, an overnight event, celebrates cancer survivors while honoring those in the community who lost their battle with cancer. Teams of local businesses, schools, churches, synagogues, community groups, families and friends raise funds to fight cancer and also designate at least one team member at a time to walk or run on a track throughout the Relay. This year’s Relay For Life of Highland Park / Highwood / Deerfield will be held from 6:00 p.m. August 25 to 6:00 a.m. August 26 at Sunset Park in Highland Park.

To register a team, register as a cancer survivor, become a Relay For Life volunteer or for more information on the kick-off celebration, contact Kari Skloot at the American Cancer Society at 847.317.0025 or visit our website at www.RelayForLife.org.
