Gale Gand, Eva May, & Julie Ressler

Local Creative Types Gather to Give Back

In the woods of Riverwoods and under a massive tent, 50 juried artists and hundreds of guests ate, drank, and listened to the live band while perusing the art stalls. The art created by locals and not so local artists was on display and for sale in honor of the 48th annual Riverwoods & Art Show. If you didn’t make it to this free event – here is a snapshot of three exhibitors who can be found in and around town.

Celebrity Chef – Gale Gand

Gale Gand, celebrity pastry chef, and host of the Food Network’s Sweet Dreams is no stranger to the North Shore. Having grown up here, raising her family here and expanding her partnership with Rick Tramonto of Tru to the new $1.25 Million Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, Gale would be proud to say she is organically home grown. In addition to promoting her latest dessert book Chocolate & Vanilla, Gale did a quick cooking demonstration, signed autographs and gave NorthShoreInsider.com a rundown of the delectable food offerings available at the various hotspots in The Westin North Shore including Tramonto’s Steak & Seafood, Osteria di Tramonto, RT Lounge (for Sushi and "sexy cocktails") and Gale’s Coffee Bar.

Eva May Design Studio

NorthShoreInsider.com met Eva while she was unpacking her creations and setting up her booth. I quickly noticed her wonderful monkey T-shirts and started ooohing and ahhhing over the one-of-a kind accessories she created. Born in Sweden, Eva’s boutique is located in Andersonville at 5643 North Ashland. To shop her online store go to www.evamay.com or call to set up an appointment at 773-551-1875. Make sure you ask her about her 07’ Monkey T-shirt – it rocks!

Julie Ressler Watercolors

Julie Ressler has been painting since she used red lipstick to liven up on her grandmother’s creamy white wallpaper. Over the years Julie’s body of work has broadened in scope from portraits, landscapes, animals, family scenes, world scenes and commissioned projects. Julie says is that she likes to paint what you like to look at. Julie lives locally on the North Shore and passionately approaches every aspect of her work. You can contact Julie at 773- 368-7247 or visit her website to see more and learn more about this creative force at www.julieressler.com.

So what’s the big deal? Here it is…in this one night Arts & Riverwoods raised $25,000 + to provide art scholarships and funding for local elementary and high school kids. Nicely done!
