Braeside Elementary Art Tour
Art Is Born at Braeside, But Growing Up In the Darndest Places
What's the use of keeping art confined to the classroom – or even the school?
Why not spread the joy far and wide?
That's the mind set and guiding practice followed by Sheri Lucterhand, Braeside Elementary School's leading art advocate.
No duh she's an art teacher, so of course you're thinking she's creative, but Sheri takes her mission to places art has never been before. For example you'll find fresh and new art sightings as you walk into Sunset Foods, ceramic shoes at The Bootery and Shoe Fly. Coming soon to a store near you are King Tut masks at Princeton Framers sponsored by her 5th graders.
Other ingenious ideas of Sheri's include literary tie-ins with well known Children's authors like Dr. Seuss and Faith Ringgold of Tar Beach as well as art inspired by those already famous like Kandinsky and Jim Dine.
