Calling All Corporations!
Replacing Your Computers?
Read This and Call 847-909-7500

For most of us, the idea of having a computer in the house is as common as soap. It’s a given, and fact of life. Whether its for homework, paying bills, downloading music, email or just surfing the net – we take this advent for granted and rarely consider what life would be like with out it, because why would we.

Well someone did and his name is Andy Vass. Andy and his non-for-profit group Technology For Humanity has been addressing the issue of “digital divide” to create “win-wins” for corporations to give back by replacing their computers with donations to under served communities lacking access to today’s technology. More specifically, the computers donated help minorities groups and those disabled.

Before going any further PLEASE NOTE:
Technology For Humanity is looking for multiple computers from corporations. These computers are ones being replaced for newer ones and fit these specifications:

So here’s how you CAN help. The key question to ask your Clients, the company you work for, vendors and friends is “What does the company do with their old equipment”? It's that easy because believe it or not the EPA actually goes after corporations that can’t show an audit trail of what they’ve done to get rid of the old technology because the computers contain silicone and the monitors contain mercury which pollute the environment. Sadly, less than 20% of computers get recycled, leaving the other 80+ % ending up in land fills.

Think of your efforts as a hat trick:

  1. Help under served communities get what they need to survive and succeed in today’s world.
  2. Help corporations safely and properly dispose of their old systems by recycling
  3. Help the environment by reducing the waste that tragically ends up in land fills.

The best news is evidenced by the benefits provided by Technology For Humanity. As Andy explained, getting these communities connected helps to greatly reduce human and financial costs – both on a local community level and to our society as a whole. Financially, Technology For Humanity also helps to cut down on the taxes we pay to the government to address issues like crime, gangs and other challenges plaguing these communities.

As follow up to providing the actually technology, Andy’s organization opens other doors by providing volunteer training so kids and adults can get turned on and tuned into the world of technology. In many cases theses skills help to build their self esteem, to land them jobs and teach them skills to change their lives.
