Down on Halloween

Down On Halloween

Halloween Bat

It’s horrible, but I’ve always been a Halloween hater.
Can’t stand it.
Don’t get it.
Think it’s stupid.

There have been times (many of them) when I didn’t buy candy, shut off the lights and pretended I wasn’t home to avoid answering the door and greeting the treaters.

I will spare you all the reasons why, it’s not what you think, I love candy. The hype never gets to me either but this year something did make me softened like a tootsie roll.

It started when I marveled at the creative costumes the staff at Equinox gym were wearing.

My yoga guru paid homage to Pippi Longstocking and from what I understand Pippi does a mean down dog. The front desk did The 80’s in rare form and Membership represented itself it is finest and hottest chick referee costume.

I was disappointed that I was without my trusted video camera but Pilates started. Ellen kicked us off with Thriller and my hating Halloween attitude lifted as my core made like a pumpkin and rounded out.

By the time 3:30 came I was rethinking the hermit routine and made the move to Party City to stock up on candy. Apparently I chose well because the reviews were quite favorable encouraging me to sport an all you can eat attitude.

When the doorbell rang, my first visitor broke out in song. His costume is Elvis and Johnny Cash…his brother, of course, came as Elvis too. Next came the fangless vampire, the 60’s guy and his rapper friends, the classic cat, power ranger and Witch and of course the neighborhood boys as Cheerleaders.

The little guys crack me up and the group costumes worth the reminder that it’s just about fun and having a good time with your pals.

I will not say I’m a convert. And unless I had a really awesome costume, I promise I will never go out or hit a Halloween party. For now I am thrilled with my progress and glad its over!
