One Solution: Vegetable Oil, As A Bio Fuel Alternative!

I never would have believed it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. A bus that runs on grease… that’s right, 100% vegetable oil. And powered by other solar energy saving and sustainable systems.
All this and more was part of the demonstration hosted earlier this month at Whole Foods in Deerfield, Conscious Goods Alliance and Chicago BioFuels Non-For-Profit. In addition to Whole Foods, Conscious Goods Alliance and Chicago Bio Fuel, State Senator Susan Garrett and Congressman Mark Kirk did their share by raise awareness and celebrate renewable energy.
The highlight of afternoon was without a doubt, the Veggie Bus tour knowledgably led by Todd, a hemp clothed member of the team from Vancouver, British Columbia. First, Todd showed us Insiders what takes place on the outside of the Veggie bus – namely the incredible conversion process, as the vegetable oil becomes fuel.

This is Todd
For me the big bus thrill came when Todd brought us inside the veggie bus to explain how the Conscious Goods Alliance along with the other sponsors created a “sustainable life on wheels” and eco-showroom.
Todd and the bus members on are touring the states this summer to get the word out to the public and corporations big and small as to how to get involved whether it be by “donating grease” to help conserve gasoline or simply understanding the differences conscious choices make. The Veggie Bus will be in the Chicagoland area until the end of June so click here to find out when and where you can hop on board and get the tour for yourself!
While it remains unlikely that tomorrow you’ll find a vegetable oil pump at your Mobile station, the idea of grease as fuel for public transportation is something both Conscious Goods Alliance and the Chicago BioFuels Association would loooove to see happen.
