Gold Cost Art Fair, 2007
The Gold Coast Art Fair, celebrates its 50th year this August 3-5 in the heart of downtown’s vibrant River North and Gold Coast neighborhoods. Open Friday from 12 noon – 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., the free event annually draws approximately 350 artists from around the globe. Situated along LaSalle Street at the intersections of Erie, Huron and Superior, the festival attracts nearly 600,000 art patrons into the neighborhood already recognized for its incredible selection of art galleries. Rated the number one juried art festival in the nation by the authoritative voice of Sunshine Artist magazine, this notable festival is a world-class event that residents and visitors alike look forward to year after year.
Highlights of this season’s festival include:
- Ted Allen, television personality and cookbook author, hosts an interactive vineyard-like experience, which marks the launch of the Robert Mondavi Private Selections’ Crush in the City nation wide tour. Experience this unique festival addition on Saturday, August 4 from 10 am – 6 pm.
- A kick-off celebration featuring a giant “gold” Eli’s cheesecake
- Kids’ activities include Art Fest Bingo and Paint-a-car
- Live art demonstration include glass blowing demonstrations by Daniel M. Marder of Making Glass LLC studio and gallery
- Live music will include Cirrus Falcon’s acoustic rock, the smooth jazz of the Showtyme Jazz Duo, harpist Arrian Lydon, and Australia’s Didjeridoos
- A vibrant selection of original paintings, photography, furniture, sculpture, jewelry, glass and more fill the neatly arranged white tents
