Tony and Pam Gordon, owners of three Gordon Salons and Spas (one in Lakeview and two in Highland Park), have been nominated for the prestigious 2008 Global Salon Business Award (GSBA). With over 20 years experience in the beauty industry, this husband and wife team recently learned that they are being considered for GSBA's Salon Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which recognizes excellence in the industry for salon entrepreneurs.

The award, which is only presented every two years, is given to a select few salon owners worldwide who have consistently demonstrated extraordinary business and entrepreneurial success in the areas of salon leadership, client philosophy, marketing and promotion. Another criteria for consideration is someone who contributes to the salon industry within his or her own community, creating a lasting and positive impact.

This is not the first time that Tony and Pam Gordon have received recognition for their Aveda concept salons and the innovation behind them. For the past five years, the Gordon Salons and Spas have been named one of the country's Top 200 hair salons for their consistent growth and success.

And just last year, the Gordons launched a unique salon concept never attempted in the state of Illinois -- a salon staffed ONLY by new, up and coming talent. Called Gordon New Talent (in the heart of downtown Ravinia), Tony and Pam have created a welcoming neighborhood location where stylists new to the business have been able to hone their skills, gain greater confidence and build their clientele. The salon has become exactly what the Gordons had hoped it would be a place to showcase the beauty industry's rising stars!

We are honored to be considered for GSBA's Salon Entrepreneur of the Year Award, says Tony, a 4th generation hair stylist. Pam and I truly love what we do and are grateful for the positive recognition our salons have received throughout the years, he adds. For us, there's nothing more exciting than working within the beauty industry. Neither one of us could ever imagine doing anything else!
