Highland Park Fashion Week

IT’S HIGH TIME FOR HIGH FASHION

Don’t even consider flying to Paris, Milan or New York City to see the hottest fall fashions. It’s High Time for High Fashion once again in Highland Park, Illinois when during the week of September 23rd through September 29th, retailers and shoppers alike will be celebrating the fashions for the season. Everyone is invited to enjoy the events of the week and let their passion for fashion be applauded.

Special events and trunk shows will be scheduled all over town, with showings of daytime and evening wear, jewelry, accessories and even the latest in eyewear. The Art Center, located at 1957 Sheridan Road in Highland Park will be the backdrop for the SPOTLIGHT ON FASHION COCKTAIL PARTY with informal modeling on Tuesday, September 25th from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. And, back by popular demand this year, the HIGH TIME HIGH FASHION PROFESSIONAL RUNWAY SHOW AND LUNCHEON will be held at the Highland Park Country Club on Friday, September 28th, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Reservations for the events are a must! Tickets for the Cocktail Party are $30 each and tickets for the luncheon are $60 each, although both can be purchased for $85 at the office of the Chamber of Commerce, 508 Central Avenue, Suite 206, Highland Park, or at Sunset Foods, 1812 Green Bay Road, Highland Park or by calling the Chamber office at 847.432.0284 or visiting the website, www.ehighlandpark.com.

Throughout the week, participating retailers will be hosting special events and trunk shows to highlight their unique interpretations of what’s in-store for fall and winter.

Additionally, some stores will be offering special pricing on merchandise during the week, and, if you’re at the cocktail party there will be special raffles for discounts and merchandise, and at the luncheon, guests will receive a valuable gift bag filled with goodies to help you make your purchases a bit more enticing.

FLIRTY, 607 Elm Place, one of the newest shops on Highland Park’s high fashion landscape, will unveil collects by Nicola Berti Leather Jackets, Designs by K, one-of-a-kind-jewelry and Hand-dyed Silk and Velvet Scarves, Shawls and Jackets, created by local designer, JoAnn Chaimson. BANANA REPUBLIC, 643 Central Avenue, will be highlighting its fall 2 collections, filled with affordable luxury and high fashion items.

BETT’S, 678 Central Avenue, celebrating the store’s 31st year of business in Highland Park, will be showcasing the fall 2 and holiday collections of Lafayette 148. The collection by Edward Wilkerson is designed for today’s sophisticated woman, featuring clothing in luxurious fabrics to suit every lifestyle. ENAZ, 444 Central Avenue, will be presenting several fine lines of clothing and will have special giveaways throughout the week. They will be showing chunky sweaters, and layered looks, extreme bottoms, from skinny to super wide-leg, and with them, many metallic accents.

INDIGO CLOTHING, 1859 Second Street will be showcasing beaded jewelry by local artist, Oreen Zeitlin. The necklaces and earrings are all one-of-a-kind and are perfect accents for the beautiful clothing at Indigo. OVER THE TOP, will be just that with its holiday and cruise wear, Elliot Lauren Sportswear, One Girl Who sweaters, B-Chyll cashmeres and hand knit sweaters designed by Barbara Wells. The store, located at 1866 First Street, will have special drawings for gift certificates at the end of the week.

PIECES GALLERY, 644 Central Avenue, will have 3-different trunk shows running from September 26th through September 29th, culminating in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate on the 29th. Catherine Doll, artwearables, Buckle up Babe belt buckles by Tina Spector created from hand cut glass, freshwater pearls, and more, and Silke Jewelry created in Sweden, will be the headliners at Pieces Gallery for Fashion Week.

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE, located at 1849 Green Bay Road, Highland Park, is a name synonymous with high fashion. The store will be launching Malo, now designed by Tommaso Aquilano & Roberto Rimondi of 6267. Only 5 Saks Fifth Avenue locations will carry the line for fall 2007 and the Highland Park store is one of them! Also premiering at Saks during Fashion Week are Ippolita in Fashion Jewelry Collections and Premise in Modern Collections. On Thursday, September 27 Saks will host a St. John focus day celebrating the 45th anniversary of St. John. Refreshments will be served and guests will enjoy informal modeling of the limited edition 45th Anniversary Collection. Customers will receive a St. John logo hanger and commemorative bracelet with purchase from the anniversary collection.

SUNFLOWER, 1882 Sheridan Road, will host Glima Tees, IWANCIW, and Christopher Blue Jeans Trunk Shows Thursday, September 27th through Saturday September 29th. Refreshments will be served and names will be drawn fro gift certificates during Fashion Week, with special hours on Thursday when the store will be open until 7 p.m. Stop in to see what’s new at VILLAGE SET III, 757 Central Avenue. You’ll be the first one to see the new fall clothing lines that will be uncovered during fashion week. And, if you’re planning that special ski vacation this winter, you won’t want to miss the trunk show of ski specialty fashions at WILLIAM’S SKI & PATIO, 1672 Old Skokie Road.

BETTY SCHWARTZ’S INTIMATE APPAREL, 1833 Second Street, will offer collections and suggestions of special lingerie to help flatter your figure. Also featured, will be loungewear for you to slip on to relax in after a long day shopping!

To help you keep your eye on fashion, focus on EYELAND of ST. JOHNS, 1819 St. Johns Avenue. Everyone’s invited to a private launch party of the Loree Rodkin collection on Wednesday, September 26th from 3 until 7 p.m. On September 27th, from noon until 5 p.m., the entire Sama Eyewear collection (worn by celebs) and the Badgley Mishka eyewear collections will be unveiled. Be ahead of the fashion curve when you visit SEE Eyewear, purveyor of exclusive eyewear designs, 670 Central Avenue. There you’ll find the hottest trends in eyewear on display from September 27th through September 29th. Can you say Vintage?

CITYWOODS, 651 Central Avenue, is adding to the excitement of “the week” with a showing of the rarely seen complete collections of Ayala Bar Jewelry and the playfully edgy Ani Afshar Collection on Thursday, September 27th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and again from 4 until 7 p.m. on that day. Fall foods and fashions, including handbags from Lori O’Neill, Joanne Page, and the latest Patricia Locke jewelry will be available at Citywoods. In keeping with their fall fashion prediction that bracelets will be seen on the runways, GARFINKLES FINE JEWELRY, 462 Central Avenue, will have a Pandora trunk show on Thursday, September 27th from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. A visit to the show will enable you to create a one-of-a-kind bauble for your wrist.

NOTICE, Accessories for Living, 2057 Green Bay Road, will have a trunk show of CCB (Classy City Bling), one-of-a-kind necklaces, on Saturday, September 29th from noon until 4 p.m. While you’re there, be sure to check out all of the purses and jewelry made from recycled materials. THE TREASURE CHEST, 1853 Second Street, is bringing Barcelona to Highland Park. On Wednesday, September 26th, there will be a special unveiling of Masriera’s Isolde, as seen recently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. A collection of antique and new Masriera jewels, some rarely seen by the public, will be also be available. To help set the mood, traditional food, beverages and music from Barcelona will be offered.

The only thing left is the sometimes the most important thing in every woman’s closet—the shoes! THE BOOTERY, 492 Central Avenue, will host a Keen Footwear trunk show on Saturday, September 29th. On Friday, September 29th, you’ll get to see the artistry of the Gordon hair stylists on the professional runway models at the luncheon at Highland Park Country Club.
