Honing In On The Holiday Cards

Honing In On The Holiday Cards

Halloween is but a faint memory (except for the 3 lbs in Snickers thigh weight that seems all too vivid), and Thanksgiving is around the corner. You know what that means: holiday cards.

If you weren’t ones of those “plan ahead” types who stocked up on the bargain bin cards last December 26 (you’ve got to sift through all the Nativity scenes to find a few snowmen), then you’ve got to start thinking what kind of message you want to send and how much money you want to spend.

The short and sweet route is the picture of the kids and the dog – maybe the whole family – with a heartfelt message, “From the Smith family to yours: Best wishes for the holidays!” The plus on these: saves you the time of signing all those cards. The minus: loses the personal touch but does let friends and family take a peek at how little Sally and Jimmy have grown. Were all busy; no judgments.

Walgreens prints up these little time savers for you from an uploaded photo at a cost of $12.99 for a set of 20 4x8 photo cards or $14.99 for a set of 20 5x7 cards. Both prices include envelopes.

If most of the folks on your holiday list are cyber savvy, you can save both time and money, by sending e-cards. Free-christmas-cards-online.com lets you send a card to up to twenty-five people at a time and you can access emails from your address book. You certainly lose the warm fuzzies, but if you want to personalize some of the messages, you can send those in a separate batch. All for free!

If you’re going the good old fashioned write ‘em and stamp ‘em route, there are many places to get lovely cards in all shapes, sizes and sentiments. Here are a few stores that offer a big supply and substantial savings:
