Ladies…Get Your Guy To Man Up at Lululemon! (Part 1)

If you workout and especially if you’re a yogi or Pilates freak…you’ve seen the devotees of Lululemon. Being NorthShoreInsider.com we were dying to get the inside scoop and learn more about the how and whys of what makes Lululemon different from the Nike duds that help you just do it or Under Armor gear that’s been all rage.

To put Lululemon to the ultimate test we attended the “Man Up” event at the new store in Northbrook Court. Naturally, the idea was to invite men in -- to purchase for their women (who practically live in Lululemon) but also to turn them on to the goodness of 4-way stretch and the company‘s inspired fitness and wellness attitude.

We elected Miles to be our guide and asked him first, to explain what makes Lululemon so all that.

Then Miles took us on a tour, and provided us with a more complete understanding as to why Lululemon is not only great looking but functionally superior. Next, Miles shared some of the big picture drivers behind the company – specifically what the Lululemon manifesto is and how anyone can take advantage of the store’s FREE Tranquility Tuesday yoga classes.

Finally, before Miles got away we had to find out why Lululemon works for men and what’s behind the brand’s funny name you’ll want to repeat over and over and over again!

By the end of the night I was ready to drink the Lululemon flavored Kool Aid – and who wouldn’t be? Lululemon’s product, in-store team and community ambassadors exude messages that encourage positivity and individuality rather than perfectionism and conformity. Yahooooo -- that’s the kind of branding, that marketing alone couldn’t create!

The answer is yes – assuming you’re interested in having a firmer and smaller looking backside.

Perhaps that explains why everyone all over the North Shore is wearing Lululemon at the grocery store, running errands, and while hanging out at Starbucks – especially in the mornings and on the weekends.

I actually heard this “truth” a few weeks before I met with the folks at Lululemon. So when NorthShoreInsider.com had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Northbrook Store Manager, Michelle …we learned that the word on the street was not a rumor but rather by intentional design. Here’s why, Lululemon pants make your butt appear even cuter!

Butt, why stop there.
Whether it’s your butt, legs, or hips Lululemon aims to answer to function first, and fashion thereafter. Michelle helped us better understand this by educating us on difference in each of the styles. From loosest to most form fitting the pant display wall works as a tool to demonstrate the various looks and advantages behind each style. We found this to be a hugely helpful strategy enabling any buyer to size up and narrow down the choices before the often arduous task of trying on.

Thankfully, Lululemon also provides free hemming with your purchase so no matter what length your limbs are, they will make sure your pants fit correctly for their optimum purpose.

From the merchandise and store details to educating and servicing customers the NorthShoreInsider.com’s tour was not complete until we hit the final stop – the community boards. Get this, while one of Lululemon’s goals is to drive people into their stores (which is why don’t sell their gear on their site) their other mission is to provide resources to get people back out and into the community to get and stay fit. This way, anyone from anywhere could walk into a Lululemon store and go to the community board to pick up schedules and brochures about local yoga, pilates and other fitness hot spots. This is also where you’d go to learn more about how to get your kids involved and how to set your own goals to further improve your life!

If you haven’t already been to Lululemon Athletica in Northbrook Court make it a must on your to-go list whether it’s for shopping, a yoga class or for your daily dose of good energy! This place has re-defined retail therapy!
