Ravinia Retail Rises

Ravinia Retail Rises

Its peak season for Ravinia Festival.
Kudos to the crew because the park, and its offerings have never looked or sounded better… and that’s without giving credit to the brilliant performers who have been sharing their magic night after night.

But if you want to witness a different kind of encore, check out the rebirth of Ravinia retail.

For a while, the short strip of retail micro shops running off Roger Williams and along side St. Johns have been taking a long nap. But, the bell rang and the sweetness of precious boutiques is now fresh and awake.

Here’s the new retail lineup:

Belle Fleur

This chic spot is home to fine French reproductions for the home and garden. Cheryl Ann, the owner gets it. Just enough toile, a splash of leopard and everything tastefully arranged and well priced. If you have the bug for Paris and just can’t stomach the flight or shrinking dollar get your fix here.

Kathy Halper Studio & Gallery

You’d swear you’re in SoHo or downtown at a Chicago River North gallery – but truth be told, this bright white wall space is the Kathy Halper’s haven.
Up front are the finished, for sale works (which I am mad for) and in back are the works-in-progress. Make sure you stop in on Friday nights between 5-8 for wine & cheese and of course a viewing of Kathy’s latest masterpieces. Kathy’s studio is also open on Wednesday mornings so hit the farmer’s market and then check out her north shore oasis.

Sloppy Jos Lunchroom

Mix a splash of nostalgia with a perfect setting and fun menu and you’re at Sloppy Jos lunchroom. It’s the hang out for kids and Mom’s – especially after school or camp. You can’t go wrong with the Fluffernutter sandwich or a corn dog but its also ideal for a quick soft serve treat, penny candy or uncooked cookie dough. In addition to the spirited atmosphere, Sloppy Jos also provides Etch-A-Sketches for entertainment so you can enjoy your meal while the kids play. I personally love the T-shirts!
