School Of Rock Highwood Doors/ Velvet Underground Show
Austin’s – Libertyville Sunday September 21st
“...Blown away...Incendiary performance...”
All eyes are riveted to the stage as the kids from the Highwood School of Rock shake the house down, playing music of The Doors & Velvet Underground.
Channeling the spirit of Jim Morrison & the NYC cool of Lou Reed, the 24 kids in the band (ages 9-15) exchanged places (rotating vocals and instruments) and thundered thru an exhilarating 21 song 90 minute set.
This was a real rock show…moving lights & crisp, well mixed sound in the big room at Austin’s.
The band members are all students at The Highwood School of Rock which offers children a unique music learning experience. The kids receive individual music lessons each week and a band practice also each week…so they’re placed immediately in a band situation!
The confidence of the band members was stunning as they performed tightly… as a band…a team.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show and recommend that you see the band when you can...
The band has a couple of shows this weekend; Friday night at Gabe’s Backstage Lounge in Highwood and back at in the late afternoon at Austin’s on Sunday.
They’ll be playing the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and No Doubt.
