Looking for a few teen outlets that don’t involve a remake of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” or “Sixteen Candles?” We’ve got the line on a number of places to go and things to do that’ll keep ‘em out of trouble for another weekend or two!
In Evanston...

Gaming Afternoons – The Evanston Public Library offers teens gaming afternoons and/or evenings on Fridays. Call 847.448.8635 for more information on times and dates.
In Glenview...
Teens can take advantage of a bunch of great program and activities:

Teens Read @ Starbucks – Held on Friday evenings, kids meet at the Glen Town Center Starbucks and talk books. There’s even a free beverage and snack! Call 847.729.7500 for more info or visit their myspace page for details on programs as well.

Library game nights – Held one Saturday night each month, kids can game out with the Glenview Public Library’s new Boomchairs and use XBox 360 and Wii systems – pop and pizza are just part of the fun!

Open skate – Take advantage of the teen-friendly Friday Night Meltdowns at Glenview Ice Arena, usually from 8:15 - 10 p.m. Call 847.724.2800 for more information.

Teens Only open gym – Also on Fridays, kids from 6 - 12th grade can meet up at the Park Center to shoot hoops from 7 - 9 p.m. Call 847.724.5670 for more information.
In Highland Park...

LateNiteHP offers a variety of teen-friendly options, such as teen band performances, poetry readings and more! Check out their web site to see what’s on tap.
The Firehouse, sponsored through the Division of Youth Services in Highland Park, is a fully operational youth center, offering gaming, study space, transportation from two middle schools, free tutoring and snacks for purchase. There is a fee involved depending on the number of days you attend – visit their web site for more information.

Borders
In the heart of HP – open Monday through Saturdays til 10pm. This café rivals any local Starbucks - -and appears to be very popular for private tutoring sessions.
In Northbrook...

Open skate – Northbrook Sports Center offers “Cosmic Skate” on Friday nights from 8 - 10 p.m. – call 847.291.2993 for more information.

Bicycle racing – The Ed Rudolph Velodrome in Northbrook offers a special class just for kids in grades 7 - 12 to introduce them to track racing. The Velodrom opens in April, but sign up for the Monday/Wednesday afternoon class now! Call 847.291.2980 for more information!

The Warming House – Check out Wilmette’s teen hang out in Howard Park. The youth center offers homework help, game nights, field trips, and more. You can visit their web site for informaiton on programming and upcoming events.
In Winnetka...

“The YO” – The Winnetka Community House is home to this teen center with regularly scheduled activities. It also serves as a hangout – the place to go for homework help, a game of air hockey, or a movie-watching binge.You can visit their web site for all the details.
