Nail and Waxing Hot Spot!

When I first noticed the Nail Bar in Evanston and most recently in Highland Park, I had to ask myself, why would anyone open yet another nail salon on the North Shore? Around here, it seems like nail salons are as common as banks or Starbucks.

I had to find out for myself so I had Laura Bronner, Business Manager for the Nail Salon give me a tour and explain why this is the place is not just for you and your gal pals also for the man in your life.

First stop on the tour was the waiting area – comfortable and loaded with juicy gossip magazines that you probably wouldn’t subscribe to but love to read during the pampering process. Laura showed off the Nail Bar’s unique, (emphasis on unique) retail product selection – including polishes and special lotions and potions for your skin and calluses. But those were so blah in comparison to “Color For the Hair Down There” a dye product that you or the folks at the Nail Bar can apply to match the “Drapes with the Curtains” – Laura’s brilliant word choice, not mine. The other out there item Laura pointed out were the self-adhesive body crystals made to stick anywhere on the body.

The next stop -- the waxing room. For those of us who have seen 40-Year Old Virgin or experienced first-hand what waxing is all about -- read on.

For those who are new to the idea of waxing, you may want to have a seat. While waxing may be a far cry from enjoyable – the Nail Bar does everything possible to make the experience fun, funny and comfortable. First, the area you’ll want to wax comes with its own off-colored name. So the Jay Leno is the chin wax, the Bo Derek a thin strip, the Planet of the Apes for the bank and the Postage Stamp – self explanatory. To minimize any surprises, well marked line drawings are compiled and kept in the waxing room for private viewings and consultations.

The last stop – the party space… Unlike other nail spots along the North Shore the Nail Bar encourages social pampering. The pedicure area comfortably seats four and its easy bubbamica with those near by at the Nail Bar. Call to schedule a girly-girl event whether it be for a shower, sweet sixteen, pre-wedding, pre-prom, or just your own Ladies Night. It’s BYOB and you can also bring in munchies to go with your well maintained tootsies!
