Evanston Raises Money To Donate For Hurricane Katrina Victims
September 5th, 2006 by adminEvanston is a great community full of generous people. Members of Evanston’s business community have worked hard together to bring $50,000 in help for Hurricane Katrina victims. Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church pitched in to help victims without even thinking twice about it. Harris Bank matched the $50,000 the business community contributed. All of these amazing people must have hearts of gold. It was a unanimous decision to donate the money, something that everyone thought was what they should and needed to do. Not only did the business community work for this, but the Evanston Community Foundation and local community non-profit groups contributed as well. $16,500 in authorized gifts were made to the Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund, and $7,500 in contributions went to the Build Back the Coast Fund that is run through the Gulf Coast Community Foundation in Biloxi, Mississippi. Together, the Evanston community worked hard to bring help where help is so desperately needed.
