Fine Dining In Evanston

September 18th, 2006 by admin

I am insanely hungry, so I’m going to write a little blurb about food (considering it’s all I can think about at the moment).  One of the best restaurants I’ve been able to endulge at is Oceanique in Evanston.  I am a vegetarian, so fine dining is often times difficult for me.  For instance, at upscale restaurants, many a time, the chef will make a little dish “compliments of the chef”.  One time, my boyfriend and I were eating at one of these upscale restaurants, and they neglected to ask if either of us were vegetarian, and brought out a fancy dish containing meat.  I was so disappointed.  Now you may think, where am I going with this?  Well, at Oceanique, I was treated like gold.  I was asked what I do and don’t eat, what I like to eat and what I don’t like to eat.  I hate mushrooms, so nothing was served to me containing mushrooms.

Oceanique is French-American modern cuisine gourmet dining.  You can try everything from chilled lobster, scallops sushimi, to pan seared sirloin (I obviously have not tried it but I hear it’s great).  For dessert, you can have Day and Night cake, which is absolutely amazing, with berries and amazing chocolate sauce.  Don’t forget the wine as well.  Trust me, if you go to Oceanique, you will leave pleasantly full and very happy.  Chef Mark Grosz is amazing, and cares about his customers and their tastes.  Be sure to try out Oceanique, 505 Main Street in Evanston.
