Free Burritos! I Hope!

You’ll have to take this Insider Tip on good faith – I heard whispers at the soccer field on Saturday that Moe’s Southwestern Grill, set to open this week in the Willow Festival Plaza on the corner or Waukegan and Willow in Northbrook, will be offering FREE BURRITOS all day Thursday.

Yummy. Hope the kids are up for Mexican this week. I wonder if I get Josh to put back on his biker dude beard, I can send him in twice.

Willow Festival is one of the North Shore’s newest entries into the destination shopping market, with a brand new Whole Foods, DSW Shoes, REI, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Starbuck’s, Potbelly’s, Sports Clips and Pinstripes, to name a few. If you’re looking for cutesy boutiques and non-chain shops, this isn’t that kind of mall. But the REI is beautiful (they moved from the Four Flaggs shopping plaza off of Golf Rd) and the Whole Foods is stunning. (Keep in mind - it’s brand new and has awesome produce, which we’ve been lacking since Carrot Top closed. So I’m easy to stun.)

The only thing that drives me crazy in my few attempts to navigate the area is the set up and parking lot - it’s bat**** crazy. I’m sure once everything is open and ready to go, and the parking lots are cleared of construction crud, it may make more sense, but the lanes curve everywhere, stop signs are sporadic, and it takes a few passes before you know where to turn.

And can I just add - is Potbelly’s trying to overtake Starbucks for the most outlets on the North Shore? Holy smokes - I have one in my backyard, now there’s one five minutes away at Willow Festival, and there’s a new shop up on Skokie and Dundee. Not that I’m complaining - I’ll take a $3.79 roast beef sandwich over a Quart Pounder any day of the week - I just hope they aren’t spreading themselves too thin. Or planning a governmental coup.
