I Was There…Where Were You?
October 13th, 2008 by KellyComing from a Big 10 school, it’s really easy for me to get stoked over a weekend football game. Especially when my alma mater is in town. So it was a cinch to find me Saturday – in the stands of Ryan Field Saturday afternoon, cheering for the Spartans. I just gotta ask, though – where is everyone else?
People - Northwestern is 5-1. That’s what most would think is a decent record! They’re a good football team. Maybe not as good as mine was this past weekend, but they’re doing all right! NU has one of the most laid back, fan friendly, accessible stadiums around. In East Lansing, my kids wouldn’t have gotten within 100 yards of the team. Here?My youngest got to high five Heisman candidate Javon Ringer - twice. It was a thrill for them to see the team up close:

Plus, and this can’t be emphasized enough…Free Beer! Wildcat Alley is an awesome family-friendly event that opens up a couple of hours ahead of game time, with kids’ activities and, yes, free beer for the 21 and over crowd, courtesy of Goose Island. You can read more about it in the Trib’s article.
There’s only a few games left this season - don’t miss out. Homecoming is this weekend - check out the parade on Friday night!
