It’s Our North Shore, Keep It Clean
October 15th, 2007 by KellyToday’s blog is inspired in part by Blog Action Day, a worldwide event designed to draw attention to a singular topic, and also in part by the idiots who litter in front of my house.
The singular topic? Climate change. Look, I’m no scientist, but I do think global warming is real. I’m not so sure it isn’t just a natural progression of our planet, and that change itself is inevitable. I do think, though, we as inhabitants of this world can make a more concerted effort to lessen the impact we have on climate change.
With that in mind, I’m asking people to put forward a more concerted effort in respect to recycling. Specifially, I want the idiots that toss newspaper, empty water bottles and pop cans on the median by my front door to find a recycling bin. C’mon, people - I know you just wrapped up a soccer game at the park, or you’re done with dinner, but just because you parked your car in front of my townhouse doesn’t mean my little patch of grass can be used as a trash receptacle. It’s really easy to forget people live here, I know. It’s an urban environment. But trust me - we do. It’s no fun to walk out the front door in the morning to get the paper or walk my daughter to the bus stop only to see you’ve left your styrofoam cup on my lawn. Really. Stop it.
Back to your regularly scheduled blogging tomorrow!
