Waukegan continues to stand out as the most affordable destination for buyers looking for a great deal on a single-family home. The average sales price for the city during the third quarter was $147,650, according to the Chicago Association of Realtors.
The next best deal to be found is in Highwood. Buyers can find a home for an average of $325,000 in this Chicago suburb. Skokie is also in the same ballpark. The average sales price during the third quarter for a home in Skokie stood at $375,500.
If you have plenty of money to spend, there are lots of luxury homes for you and your family. The most expensive neighborhood in the northern suburbs is exclusive Kenilworth, where the average sales price during the third quarter was at $2.2 million.
Three other cities in the area also have average sales prices above $1 million. Lake Forest comes in next with an average sales price of $1.26 million, followed by Northfield at $1.25 million, and Glencoe, with an average sales price during the third quarter of $1.07 million.
