Old School Summer Fun

Back in the day, I could cartwheel into a double-dutch demo like nobody’s business. Jump roping was standard operating procedure on the playgrounds, aside from flirtatious games of Red Rover with…ewww! Boys! These days, elementary school playgrounds make ours look like we grew up with Laura and Mary Ingalls. OK - fine. But damn if my kids aren’t going to learn how jump rope and actually do it once in a while, rather than save it all up for the Jump Rope For Heart day at school.
I can’t bring the double-dutch action like I once could - and it takes a good 15 minutes of hard begging from my six-year-old to do a cartwheel. But I can take them to a pro - the Jump Rope Warrior. If you’ve never seen him in action, Guinness World Record holder Dave Fisher puts on an amazing display of talent that’ll have even the big kids giving him the standing O.
