Not that North Shore Chicago is lacking for cutesy little places to take kids for haircuts, but I thought I’d let everyone know what a nice time I had over the weekend at the newest offering, Pigtails and Crewcuts, located in the Glen Town Center.
My daughter was long overdue for a haircut and not at all happy about it – she digs her long brown locks. So I needed a place that would treat her with kid gloves and tell her over and over how pretty her hair would be just a few inches shorter. The stylist helped her into the big girl chair (there are also fire truck, airplane and cop car chairs for the wee wots) and lavished her with compliments, the princess she is. Meanwhile, my 11-year-old kept himself entertained with the Wii system in the party room, so no complaints from him, either!
Speaking of entertainment, each chair has a flat screen TV, so Shrek kept my daughter company – she also had the option to play XBox! And if you need a trim, Mom, they can handle the really big girls too!
Prices are very reasonable — $18 for a haircut, $5 for bangs, and $25 for a Mom or Dad cut. The salon also offers nail services and birthday parties. If you’re in the ‘hood, check it out!

Sales of new and resale condos and lofts plummeted 40 percent during the third quarter in Glenview. The area was one of the hardest hit in recent months by the decline in demand for condos around the Chicago suburbs.
According to data from the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of just 42 units were sold in Glenview during the third quarter, down from 70 units sold during the same period a year ago. It was well off the high of 108 condos sold during the third quarter of 2005, and the worst result seen in the neighborhood in the past 18 years.
A drop in prices wasn’t enough to get buyers back to the neighborhood during the third quarter. The average sales price fell by 11 percent from the same period last year, and could continue to fall as the inventory of unsold condos continues to increase.
If you’re planning on selling your condo in Glenview, it will now take you an average of 143 days to find a buyer, up from 111 days a year ago. Just three years ago the average turnover time for condos on the market was just 56 days. The increase in competition on the market could mean some great deals on North Shore Chicago Condos in Glenview.
