The Threat Against The Social Security Disability Insurance Program

There has been a lot of talk in Glencoe, Illinois about the Social Security Administration and the future of available funds. Many do not understand that the risk is also to disability insurance paid out under Social Security.

The disability insurance from Social Security is expected to no longer exist as of 2027. The funds are expected to be depleted.

The depletion of funds is due to the rising number of those claiming the insurance and the increase in cost to maintain the program in communities across the U.S., including Glencoe, Illinois.

2027 may seem far away, but trouble is brewing now. In 2005 the total expenses for the disability insurance was more than the tax receipts from towns such as Glencoe, Illinois that keep the program running.

There have been various solutions proposed to help fix the broken system. However, bureaucratic road blocks have gotten in the way of a permanent solution.

In 1994, the disability insurance program also faced problems. At that time Congress was able to allocate enough payroll taxes to keep the program afloat for residents of Glencoe, Illinois and other towns across the U.S.

Hopefully, a solution to the current program can come again in time.

The Social Security Disability Insurance program has been around since 1956. Since that time it has provided benefits to people from all walks of life in Glencoe, Illinois who have came into need due to disability.

Disabled workers account for a large number of those collecting disability insurance. These workers often exit the program due to recuperation or through being rolled over into the Social Security program upon reaching the appropriate age.

With recent changes in the age limits for Social Security, however, the number of disabled workers exiting the disability program has dropped in Glencoe, Illinois and all across the nation.

Another major issue is beneficiaries to the program. In Glencoe, Illinois and other towns, there has been a great drop in the number of people paying into the system compared with those getting money form the system.

With the decrease of money coming in and the increase of money going out it is no surprise problems are lurking.

One of the major reasons for this is that the baby boomer generation in Glencoe, Illinois and the nation in general is now entering into the age group that collects the most disability insurance.

As this generation starts to collect and stops working the numbers slip and the balance is in trouble.

The Social Security disability program is going to fall apart without help. It is just not reasonable to expect a small workforce to support such a large number of people collecting disability insurance.

The past attempts, like increasing the payroll tax revenue to the fund, just do not seem to be the answer this time.

It will take more than some quick money shifting to solve this problem. Action is needed quickly before we see the end of this long standing institution.
