Church Street Village is being developed by Cyrus Homes, a longtime North Shore builder with a great deal of experience in Evanston condominium development. Its chairman, Walter Kihm, Jr., is a longtime Evanston resident and the president, Ronald Fleckman, also has numerous ties to the community.

Located on the old Hines Lumber site at 1613 Church Street, just southwest of downtown Evanston, this is one of the first residential communities anywhere to place such an emphasis on “green” living. Cyrus Homes is passionate about the use of geo-thermal energy systems, maintnenance-free brick facades and energy-efficient “low E” window panes. And you won’t have to sacrifice luxury, either. The townhomes include 9-foot ceilings, high-tech pre-wiring, 6-panel doors, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, Kohler faucets and optional fireplaces. Each townhome also has its own 1- or 2-car garage, depending upon the floor plan.

Church Street Village is one of Evanston’s best buys, if you are willing to forgo living in the heart of downtown. For example, a 3-bedroom/3-bath unit, can be priced significantly less per square foot than its downtown counterparts, at $208 per square foot.

Of the 40 units planned, close to 50 percent have already been sold. Remaining units start at $388,900 with the most expensive unit at $490,000.

These townhomes are well within walking distance from downtown Evanston, Metra and CTA stations, and offer its residents superior public schools: Willard Elementary School, Haven Junior High School, and Evanston Township High School.
