The food and restaurant scene in downtown Highland Park got a great addition when New York Slices opened earlier this year. They sell authentic New York Style pizza by the slice or whole pies. During the week, the joint is jumping with locals lunching on enormous slices of tasty Highland Park pizza & a coke and with kids hanging out and chowing down after school.

The place is decorated with Murals of New York City (Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty) kids who want to leave their mark are allowed to write graffiti on the bathroom walls (if they ask for a marker & keep it cleans).

The prices are are a bargain...A “Regular Slice” of Cheese Pizza is $2.90 and extra toppings are 30 cents each.

My favorite is the Penne pizza, with ziti on top of the cheese and tomato sauce. Delicious!

The “Grandma Pizza” is one of the oldest recipes, right off the boat from Italy. Smoked buffalo, mozzarella cheese, plum tomatoes and roasted garlic. This is another mouth watering, unique pie.

New York Slices restaurant also offers House Specialties… Meatball Sandwiches, Calzones and for the health conscious, Chopped Salads.

Deserts highlights are Italian Ice and soft serve gelato.

They cater and they have four plasma TV’s and all the Satellite High Definition Sports Packages so you can see all the games.
